Pet Care Basics: Much of being a responsible pet owner is understanding what your pet needs and also being aware of what your responsibilities are to the community.
Know your Pet: Learn about your pet's special needs - dietary, health, housing and general care.
Balanced Diet: Provide your pet with an adequate balanced diet and ensure it has access to clean, cool drinking water at all times. RSPCA feeds & recommends Hill’s Pet Nutrition. Animals awaiting adoption are fed Hill’s Science Diet which as a healthy balanced diet to ensure optimal health & wellbeing.
Regular Exercise: Ensure you honour your pets requirements for regular exercise.
Clean, safe and appropriate living environment: This will prevent illness & disease & provide them with the comfort they deserve.
Regular Health Check ups & Vaccinations: To avoid illness & encourage general wellbeing.
Love & attention – Ensure your pet has the appropriate companionship & is not neglected. Provide your pet with love and attention and commit to caring for it for its entire life.
Microchip your pet (where appropriate) and where required register it with your local council to increase the likelihood of return when lost.
Socialise – with other pets & with your friends & family to ensure they are used to mixing with others.
Respect Others – respect the rights of non pet owners by keeping your pet under control while in public and by disposing of any droppings made in public areas.
